Beer Mile Varaždin

The race starts at a large balloon, stationed approximately halfway between the usual spot where you wait in line for the restroom during the Biergarten, where you drink on weekends, and the stage where many bands will be softening us up for another gallon or two... Should we station a volunteer there as well? Let's continue... Wherever you see the tape, that's where you run. It doesn't get simpler than that. And you do this 4 times. If you don't get it right the first time, ask one of our volunteers for directions. It's like the old days when there was no GPS, and you wanted to find an open pub in Lower Zavižanj. Basically, when you count the same volunteer 4 times, somewhere around there is the finish line and the sign for the END. Don't worry, there'll be someone there to tell you you're done. So, no pressure, just give it your all. The course is not technically demanding, but you have to run a total of 4 laps, or 1610 meters. For those who act British, that's a full mile! After the sound signal for the start, as well as before each lap, you drink a measure of 0.33 liters of beer, which will make each subsequent lap more challenging due to the individual’s increasing level of intoxication and changes in perception of the course. The course will be marked, so try to follow it as best as you can (and don't cheat on purpose :) ). Any bottle of beer not finished to the last drop will be penalized with an additional lap, so we do not recommend cheating, as running an extra lap after the fourth one will be quite a challenge. Please try to keep your race number visible throughout the entire race (as much as possible) because otherwise, we'll have to chase you around the park. So don't act like Forrest Gump, and follow the race rules because we don't have volunteers for such antics (and who in their right mind would want to do that)! MASKS – As in previous years, the best mask doesn’t need to run at all, wins a prize, and will stand on the stage with those who have outpaced the rest of the crew with sweat (and blood alcohol levels) either standing (or on all fours).
