Ploče Trail

Opened in 2021, the "Tragom bunkera" themed hiking trail on Striževo Hill near Ploče offers a unique experience. The trail passes through 8 bunkers, two abandoned hamlets, and several Illyrian mounds, providing stunning views of Baćina Lakes, Biokovo, and the sea. It's perfect for trail races that test participants' navigation and concentration skills while enjoying pristine nature and spectacular scenery.

The short race starts right on the coast, at the dock for small boats near the Cultural Center in Portina. The center is also the starting or final checkpoint (KT) of the Biokovo Mountain Trail, established in 1979. The first 500 meters are run on an asphalt road, which crosses a bridge where water from Baćinska lakes flows into the sea. After that, the route follows a dirt road for about 500 meters, before continuing on a wide stone path up to the peak and KT8, where a control checkpoint awaits, with refreshments and a perforator placed at a cannon position. Once you've marked your number on the perforator, you return on the same path to the finish. The short race is quite simple, following a wide path. The entire ascent (250 m) occurs in the first part of the race, while the second part is a descent.
