Samobor trail

The long course is a true highlight for trail runners, taking you past three historic fortresses of the Samobor area: Samobor, Okić, and Lipovec. The race starts at the foot of the Old Town of Samobor, then enters the Tepec forest park before descending onto a gravel road leading to the first refreshment station at 3.6 km. The route continues along forest trails towards Slavagora and Cerje. After the checkpoint at 8.3 km, the short and long courses split, with the long course heading towards the Old Town of Okić. After passing Okić, runners enter a new section featuring a climb towards Popovdol Cave, followed by a descent to the third refreshment station (16.5 km) located below Karvanišće. A scenic climb follows towards the summit of Plešivica, offering stunning views, before descending to Poljanice and the fourth refreshment station (19.7 km). The course then climbs to Gajev kamen and continues towards Maričkin mlin, where it joins the route of the Samobor Winter League. From there, runners follow the well-known trails of the league, passing the Stražnik peak and the cross at Beli Breg. Descending beneath the Old Town of Lipovec, participants reach the fifth refreshment station (27.5 km), followed by a climb up to Lipovec and a ridge section leading towards Oštrc. After joining the Oštrc trail, the route continues via Oštrc and Veliki Dol, where the final refreshment station before the finish is located (31.5 km). Upon reaching Palačnik, the final descent towards Samobor begins. The last climb passes by the Old Town of Samobor, followed by a descent into the finish line.

At around 10.5 km, runners reach the second refreshment station, after which the route continues towards Cerje. The course then leads to the Tepec viewpoint, from where the final descent towards the finish begins.

The recreational course is designed for anyone who doesn’t yet feel ready for intense effort or competitive running, or for those who simply want to get a first glimpse into the exciting world of trail running. Every great journey begins with a single step – and for those seeking change, a healthier lifestyle, and enjoyment of nature, that first step could be right on this trail. In just under 9 kilometers, you will explore forest trails and paths that rise above our beautiful town. The long descent towards Mala Rakovica follows a small stream while the path gradually climbs toward the Sava River. The long and short courses soon turn towards the Slavagora forests, while we continue towards Cerje. From this peaceful village, a lovely forest descent awaits, featuring a 14-meter-high pyramid with views stretching over the surrounding hills and mountains of the Samobor area. This trail is a perfect introduction to the wonderful world of trail running and also makes a great family outing for anyone who holds Samobor close to their heart.
