Ploče Trail

In early 2021, we opened the themed hiking trail “Tragom bunkera” (Following the Bunkers). The trail is located on Striževo Hill, near Ploče. Striževo is a hilly area on the border between the Makarska Riviera and the Neretva region, where Mount Biokovo comes to an end and gently slopes down towards the Baćina Lakes. The trail starts on the outskirts of Ploče and includes eight bunkers, passes through two abandoned hamlets, and leads past several Illyrian burial mounds. Recognising the historical value of these bunkers and their unique locations, we brought them together through a network of old paths. As you follow the trail, you are surrounded by the unspoilt natural beauty of the preserved coastal landscape. On one side, the views stretch across the Baćina Lakes, Mount Biokovo, and the white mountain peaks of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the other, you can admire the Pelješac Peninsula, the islands of Hvar, Korčula, and Šćedro, as well as the Neretva River Delta.
